Welcome to Year 2!
In Year 2, our curriculum is designed to be both expansive and stimulating, fostering enjoyment and thriving learning experiences for children. During Autumn, our pupils visited Harlow Carr in Harrogate for an inspirational nature-themed art workshop, resulting in the creation of beautiful pieces. In another engaging experience, a trip to Bolling Hall during Autumn two brought excitement and deep engagement, particularly during a workshop on the Great Fire of London. This not only provided valuable writing opportunities but also enhanced their understanding of this historical period.
Moreover, our Year 2s have recently corresponded with Delius and are poised to embark on a joint project as part of their Active Citizenship initiative, adding another layer of enriching experiences to their learning journey.

Hi! I’m Mrs. Naqvi, the Assistant Head Teacher at Lapage Primary School. In my personal life, I’m happily married with two children – a girl and a boy. As a close-knit family, we share a love for activities like travel, exploring different cultures, and spending quality time together. While my daughter and I adore kittens, unfortunately, we can’t have one at home due to my son’s allergies.
With a wealth of teaching experience ranging from nursery to year 6, including a stint with secondary school GCSE students in my earlier career, I’ve found my true passion lies in primary education. Each year in teaching brings new and exciting challenges, making the journey incredibly rewarding. Joining the Year 2 team at Lapage Primary School marks another thrilling chapter, and I’m eager to embark on this adventure with my wonderful new team.

I am Mr Akhtar and I am currently teaching in year 2. I am the school’s Computing Lead. I have a passion for Maths and a keen interest in Art and Photography! I also love being active and taking part in various types of sports. This led me to complete a degree in Sports, Exercise and Nutrition at The University of Huddersfield. I was actually a student here at Lapage Primary School and was able to complete a placement at the school, which led me to completing my PGCE in 2020. I have grown up in the local community and know the challenges that our children face on a day-to-day basis. Any class taught by me will have a requirement to support Liverpool and must not mention anything when they lose!
