In Year 6 we love to work hard and have fun at the same time. It sounds like a contradiction, but we manage it! We love exploring the world of books, meeting new characters and worlds on our adventures. We think Numbers are fun and very useful too. If there’s a number problem we love to crunch it and find the solution. We’re currently reading Kensuke’s in English and basing much of our work around the novel. Our theme this half term is Stone Age to Iron Age. All of our work in the Foundation subjects will be set around this great civilisation. We’re also taking a look at our local heritage with a deep dive into Bradford’s past.

I am Mrs Fletcher and I am the current Head of Upper Key Stage 2. As well as this, I have the pleasure of leading ‘Writing’ and overseeing the English curriculum team at Lapage Primary School. I qualified as a teacher in 2011 after completing a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Leeds, and since then, I have been teaching at Lapage. My undergraduate degree from Lancaster University was in English Language and Linguistics – so you could say I have always had a passion for writing, language and grammar! I have many interests… I am an enthusiastic baker and I love to go to shows and concerts. Any class that I have taught will also tell you that I have a (not so) small obsession with my cats! One of my favourite things to share in class is picture books. I am a huge lover of picture books because they are just so, so magical; a feast for the eyes, the ears and the heart.

Hello, my name is Ms Dad and I am currently teaching in Year 6. I started my career in teaching in 2001 and since then taught mainly in Key stage 2. Though, I must admit my desire for working with young children started at a very young age: I worked in Nursery and Reception as a teaching assistant and nursery nurse. From there I began to explore work across key stage 1.
I started working in a one form entry school in Bradford after graduating in B A in Education with a qualified Teacher Status. Through my years in teaching, I took on the role of an English leader with a focus on Talk across the curriculum and launched the project; Primary Talk.
In 2018, I joined the Lapage team as a year 5 teacher. I also led science across the school in 2019. With the support of our lovely, Lapage children, dedicated teachers, SLT, governor’s and the local community we together achieved a Science Quality mark which we feel very proud of.
I have also supported SEND children and their families as a SENDCO at Lapage since November 2022 till July 2023 and from this experience gained a more in-depth perception of SEND and creating an inclusive school where children are supported in every way.
My years of experience working with children and staff has helped me become more confident in the job I do. I enjoy every minute of the day as there is no better feeling than knowing I have made a difference to the children and the community!

I am Mrs Johnson and I currently teach in Year 6. I completed my placements for my teaching degree here at Lapage; I qualified as a teacher back in 2019 and I have worked at Lapage since (apart from having 9 months out on maternity leave) In my classroom we love to laugh and have fun, all the while still learning! This is my first time teaching Year 6. My experience is mainly across KS1 and lower KS2. I lead PSHE across school and I am looking forward to supporting our School Councillors and our Eco-Warriors this year! I have a little girl called Elsie and enjoy spending time with her when I am not in school.
