    Mrs S Akhtar

    Interim Headteacher

Hello! My name is Mrs Akhtar, I am the Head of school at Lapage. I have worked in several schools in Bradford since completing my B.Ed (Hons) in 1994 but have been entranced by the Lapage’s own motto for 11 years-“Working together we achieve”! I specialized in Language and Literature at The University of Bradford by the virtue of one of my great passions, reading. As well as enjoying the tranquillity in being captivated by a book, I loved reading stories to children, listening to them read and expanding their own love and knowledge through books.

Over the years I have held many roles including early years leader, key stage 1 leader, SENDCO, literacy leader, curriculum leader, coaching and mentoring new teachers and working as a tutor on a secondment for a teacher training provider in Bradford. I have also completed my National Professional Qualification for Headteachers and an ILM coaching qualification to coach and support teachers. I enjoy continuing to learn new skills and challenging the status quo, which allows me to help Lapage become the best it can be and give our students the finest experience. There is always something further to learn! I am passionate about school improvement and always looking to work with other schools including international schools in Spain, Pakistan, Dubai and Finland. Having visited these schools, I implemented pedagogy I had seen first-hand and instilled some practices into our school. Improving and adapting is key for me. Working with the five Trust schools, has also been key to share good practice, learn and for Lapage students to meet and work with other children outside their own locality.

Outside of teaching I relish in the harmony of the great outdoors. I love going for community 5K runs and walks to keep fit and healthy, in addition to taking part in kickboxing, yoga and Pilates classes. I also cherish in travelling to other countries with my family, learning about new cultures, traditions, food and appreciating the historic monuments. I have explored The Great Pyramid of Giza and went to the depth of the Red Sea. I also enjoy spending time with my family on walks, eating out or simply watching a movie with lots of pop corn!

    Head of School

Hello! My name is Mrs Khan and I am the Head of school at Lapage Primary. I have had the privilege of working at Lapage since the year 2000, when I qualified as a teacher. I Initially studied Psychology at The University of Bradford in 1996 and then completed my Post Graduate in Teaching at The University of Leeds in 1999. I am currently studying for my National Professional Qualification for Headship and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Whilst at Lapage, I have seen many of our amazing children flourish to become wonderful citizens of Bradford and beyond – some are now business owners, cognitive behavioral therapists, junior doctors, opticians and the list goes on! I love to hear about the achievements of our past pupils. My heart is always full of pride when I meet them and hear about their triumphs.

I enjoy walking and reading (not at the same time!) As well as spending quality time with my friends and family, whilst exploring new places.

    Assistant Headteacher (Key Stage 1)

Hi All! My name is Mrs Naqvi, I am the Assistant Head for the Year 1 and the Year 2 team, I am also the class teacher of 2L.

My journey to teaching started a very long time – having younger siblings I took it upon myself to support them with their homework and reading. They made rapid progress and it was watching them excited about their achievements that made me feel so happy. I knew then, this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I have always believed education is a gift and a privilege that everyone must have access to. As a teacher I can facilitate that process and make learning accessible through fun and engaging lessons for all children.

Over the years I have taught every age group I must admit I prefer KS2 because they get my jokes. I joined Lapage Primary school in 2012 and I have never looked back. The children, the parents and the staff at Lapage make this an amazing place to work and I feel privileged to be part of this community.

I have 2 children; my daughter is 16 and my son has just turned 15 we are a close family and enjoy going out for meals, movies and most of all travelling around the world.

Assistant Headteacher (Head of Upper Key Stage 2 & English Leader)

I am Mrs Fletcher and I am the current Head of Upper Key Stage 2. As well as this, I have the pleasure of leading ‘Writing’ and overseeing the English curriculum team at Lapage Primary School. I qualified as a teacher in 2011 after completing a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Leeds, and since then, I have been teaching at Lapage. My undergraduate degree from Lancaster University was in English Language and Linguistics – so you could say I have always had a passion for writing, language and grammar! I have many interests… I am an enthusiastic baker and I love to go to shows and concerts. Any class that I have taught will also tell you that I have a (not so) small obsession with my cats! One of my favourite things to share in class is picture books. I am a huge lover of picture books because they are just so, so magical; a feast for the eyes, the ears and the heart.
